Presently working as Executive Director in Idam Infrastructure Advisory Pvt. Ltd, he is an expert in clean energy transition & RE integration. He has been Director General of National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE) under Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India.  His expertise includes sustainable energy, wind & solar energy integration, resource analytics and handling of very large systems like Indian and several other international grid systems & also complex industrial networks.  His vast experience of more than 3 decades is spread across the gamut of clean energy transition, renewable energy and power system engineering right from planning to the real time operation.

Dr. Balaraman is highly specialized in transition towards clean & sustainable energy, Renewable Integration, power system planning, and solving exceedingly intricate complex problems and providing solutions with right mix of tools, technologies and most of all, adept domain expertise. He has worked in the projects funded by ADB, US-AID, World Bank and other multi-lateral funding agencies.

His international experience besides India includes England, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, UAE, Nigeria, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Fiji, Angola, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Mongolia, Maldives, Denmark, Spain, USA, Cuba and other countries.
